Anna's workshops are suitable for complete beginners or established practitioners wanting to learn about a different area of their practice. Workshops are 3 hour sessions and can be standalone creative experiences or may lead to further self-directed work at home, in your studio or by arrangement in my studio. (See below) Work made by students in the workshops will be carefully dried, fired and glazed. Throwing for beginners Learn how to prepare clay and throw on a potter's wheel. (Please note there is only one potter's wheel so you will alternate between preparing clay and throwing.)This session is suitable for people new to throwing. 3 hours. Class size 2 people £35pp, One to One £60

Decorating with coloured slip
Learn how to make different coloured slips and try out decorating techniques like sgraffito, marbling, masking, trailing and inlay. You will decorate several test tiles and two pre-made cylinder vases. Suitable for all abilities. 3 hours. Class size up to 4 people £35pp, One to One £60

Understand this satisfying process and cast some different shapes exploring casting techniques using coloured slips. 3 hours. Class size up to 3 people £35pp, One to One £60pp (depending on group size).
Model and mould making for slip-casting
A two day One to One workshop. Design and turn a simple form on the plaster lathe and make a one or two piece slip-casting mould. This workshop is intended for artists and ceramicists wanting to start making their own moulds. All clay pieces you make will be carefully dried, fired and glazed for you. Depending on firing schedules this may take up to 6 weeks, but is more usually 4weeks. Workshops might only be able to run if all places are filled. In the event your workshop needs to be cancelled for any reason you will be notified as soon as possible and an alternative date will be sought. Occasionally work can crack or warp during the drying or firing process. Sometimes colours and glazes may look different from what was expected.
Studio Space If you need studio space to explore self-directed work Anna has studio space for 1 maker in her studio charged on daily or half daily basis Studio equipment (including the pottery wheel and plaster lathe) will be available for you to use. Stock materials and firings are available at additional cost. Half day £20 (9am - 1pm or 1pm - 5pm) Full day £30 (9am - 5pm) Contact Anna to book Studio Space.
Firing service Make at home and bring to the studio for firing. £20 full bisque or earthenware glaze firing, £27 full stoneware glaze firing (max cone 8). Shared firings may be possible subject to firing schedules. Please use the contact form to book and discuss your requirements.
