Throwing for beginners
Learn how to prepare clay,  throw on a potter's wheel and design and carve a simple plaster maker's mark. (Please note there is only one potter's wheel. When there are two people you will alternate between activities.) This session is suitable for people new to throwing.
3-4 hours. Group size max 2 people £35pp,  One to One £60

Upgrade your experience to a full day 9am  - 4pm for more time to develop your skills +£25pp for groups of 2 or more,  or +£50 One to One
Your favourite pot  will be carefully turned, dried, fired and glazed for you included in your workshop price. .  Depending on firing schedules this may take up to 6 weeks. You can arrange for additional pots to be finished, glazed and fired for you at £6/pot. In the event your workshop needs to be cancelled for any reason you will be notified as soon as possible and an alternative date will be sought. Occasionally work can crack or warp during the drying or firing process and sometimes colours and glazes may look different from what was expected.

Decorating with coloured slip

Learn how to make different coloured slips and try out decorating techniques like sgraffito, marbling, masking, trailing and inlay.
You will decorate several test tiles and two pre-made cylinder vases. Suitable for all abilities.

Slip-casting -Principles and Possibilities

Understand the principles of this satisfying process and  exploring different casting techniques using coloured slips. 
3-4 hours.  Group size max 3 people £35pp, One to One  £60pp

Model and mould making for slip-casting
Not currently booking due to equipment maintenance  
Model and mould-making services and workshops by David at CP Ceramics near Northiam may be helpful. 

 A  two day intensive One to One workshop. Design and turn a simple form on the plaster lathe and make a one or two piece slip-casting mould. This workshop is intended for artists and ceramicists wanting to start designing and making their own shapes and making their own moulds. The knowledge and skills acquired should enable you to move onto basic self directed mould-making in your own studio or by arrangement in my studio. 

Day 1: Shape Design  
Optional CAD drawing (Computer Aided Design) of your shape to aid visualisation

Lathe turn the 'Model' 

Day 2: Mould design looking at different types of model shapes and moulds
Mould-making planning
​Make your plaster slip cast mould (one or two piece mould)

Workshops

Anna's half day workshops are suitable for complete beginners or established practitioners wanting to learn about a different area of their practice.  Workshops can be stand-alone creative experiences or may lead to further self-directed work at home, in your studio or by arrangement in my studio (see below). Some students return for repeat sessions on a one to one basis to develop their skills further then move onto self-directed work with Studio Space Hire.
Work made by students in workshops will be carefully dried, fired and glazed for you.

Please contact Anna choosing the workshop you would like and details about your group size, and I will get back to you with some suggested dates. Please note workshops are term time weekdays only. Half day workshops can be mornings or afternoons.

Studio Space Hire
Book time in my studio for self-directed work. The studio has a potters wheel and a plaster lathe, tools and materials for hand building and mould-making and a basic range of glazes, stains and oxides.  You will have your own 5' table to work on for the duration of the hire period. 
 £20 half day, £35 full day. Materials and firings charged at extra cost.

Firings
I have a top-loading kiln with a Bentrup controller. The firing chamber is 33cm diameter and 44cm high with 4 shelves available.
Max temperature cone 8. Work needs to be delivered dry and ready to fire. No paperclay, home dug clay or decals due to ventilation requirements. 
Bisque and earthenware glaze firings £25 full load. 
Stoneware firings £30 full load.
Just got one small piece you need firing? Leave it with me and I'll pop it in a suitable firing with other work and charge you a proportional cost.
